Your interface to your data in Snowflake is SQL. What's more "open" than SQL?

Nobody seems to care that the Oracle raw partition or the SQLServer .DB file formats are proprietary... You don't access a relational database by reading the physical data file directly - you run SQL statements through the DB query engine. The underlying file format is completely immaterial, and arguments that claim otherwise are senseless.
